Picking The Right High Chair
Many parents tell me that when they decided to have children they thought about having babies to cuddle, but the reality of older children didn’t hit them until they got there. They love their children all the same, but they miss the days when the baby would just lie there and cuddle with them, and then go back to sleep. I guess I was a little different, as I always thought about the days when the child would be older and we could communicate better, do more things together, and have a special bond. I couldn’t wait for my little girl to get out of her high chair, but I guess I was one of the few among the other moms I know.
I guess the high chair was something that I always hated to use, but it did come in handy for more than just eating. It was easy to clean up, and they are essential for those early days when a child learns to eat on their own. I must have taken hundreds of pictures of my little girl in her high chair. The messes she made were unbelievable, and of course I wanted to be able to torture her with them when she gets older. What are moms for, right?
One mistake I made when picking out her high chair was thinking the one I got would be easy to clean. I had not been around a baby in a while and I had forgotten how thoroughly messy they can be. She left no spot on the high chair untouched. If I ever have another baby, that will be something I remember for sure.
Though ease of care is one very important thing to remember when choosing a high chair, but there is something else that is more important. Some have problems and are recalled, and there are times when they are not pulled from the shelf. Parents of young children have to keep an eye on recalls for everything they have for their baby. The high chair I had was recalled before we bought it and we didn’t know it. We had to send in for a kit to fix it once we realized it was a recalled unit. Had I known, I would have bought something else.

The circle of life is so very amazing. When we are children we believe that the world revolves around us. We imagine that everything that happens is directly related to us. Before my first niece’s shower I went looking for a gift that would be for the family and not just the baby. I was talking to a sales clerk and she mentioned several different items I could purchase. One suggestion she made was to by baby picture frames. Families are always taking so many pictures of newborns and the frames are a useful gift. The baby picture frames can be used in the nursery or any room in the house that the parents choose.
I decided that baby picture frames would be the standard gift that I would give at each of the showers. There are so many to choose from. Every time I am out shopping I look at the frames to see if any of them are on sale. If they are I buy them to have on hand for the next shower. I buy the baby picture frames in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors. If I know that the nursery is done in a certain theme I will look for a frame that will coordinate well. I give several of them at a time. They are no more expensive than giving an outfit that will only be worn a few times.
